Oral Hygiene - Cleanings

In combination with regular professional cleanings with the Orijin Integrated Dentistry hygiene team, a thorough at-home oral hygiene routine is essential for cavity prevention and maintaining your oral and overall health.

Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only look and feel good, they make it possible for you to eat and speak properly.

More importantly, good oral hygiene affects your overall well-being. Your hygienist is your first line of defense for cavity detection as well. Your hygienist will alert your dentist when you have a tooth that may need a cavity treatment or needs to be filled.

Here are a few simple steps that you can take between visits that can greatly decrease your risk of developing tooth decay, gum disease and other dental problems:

  • Brush thoroughly at least twice a day
  • Floss daily
  • Use remineralizing dental products (including toothpaste)
  • Use mouthwash or a remineralizing rinse (if your dental team member advises you to do so)
