Dr. Craig Young and the staff at Orijin Dentistry are superb. I have been going to Dr. Young for more than 25 years and have always been impressed by the quality of the work and the level of service. Always a great experience. Appointments start on time. There is lots of advice and sharing of knowledge. It always feels expensive to me but dental work is expensive. I checked the Alberta standards and prices here are inline with what I would pay elsewhere. So now there is absolutely no reason to leave. This is the best care I can imagine.

I was able to get in a little early for my appointment to have my crown installed. I was going to wimp out and ask for local anesthetic for the procedure but Dr. Oommen talked me through the process without local. It went well and I was soon on my way with my repaired tooth.

Dr Craig Young

General Dentist

Dr. Craig Young is the founder of Orijin Dentistry. He is also a general dentist who grew up in Toronto and moved to Edmonton when he was 14. Outside of his professional life, Craig is an avid downhill skier and water skier, and has been a snowboard instructor and coach, as well as a ski instructor for people with disabilities. Above all else, Dr. Young believes in family and puts his first. He’s married to the lovely June, and together they have raised three wonderful sons who are now in their twenties.
Dr Goska Nowak

General Dentist

Dr. Goska Nowak sees it as her privilege and responsibility to play a pivotal role in helping patients live healthier, longer lives. After earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1997, she moved to Calgary and spent nearly two decades growing her downtown dental practice. In 2024, she joined Dr. Craig Young at Orijin Dental, where they focus on delivering personalized, precise, and predictable care, integrating advancements in functional dentistry and medical periodontal science.

Outside of the office, she finds balance through spending time in nature, camping and hiking with her husband of 35 years and their son. Dr. Nowak is also an avid fitness enthusiast, and she prioritizes daily meditation and personal growth. She believes that by creating balance and flow in their lives, they not only experience more joy but are also better equipped to serve others.
Dr Doug Galan

General Dentist

Dr. Doug Galan, General Dentist, obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba in 1985. After a one year dental internship at the University of Manitoba in Community Dentistry, he left Canada to begin graduate studies at the University of London (UK) completing a Master of Science degree in 1988. Upon returning to Canada, Doug worked in Winnipeg for the University of Manitoba in Community Dentistry providing dental care for seniors in long term care facilities, a geriatric hospital (Deer Lodge Centre), and to traveling to Inuit communities in Nunavut. He was also involved in lecturing to dental students and conducting research on dental health issues for senior and on dental materials. In 1995, Doug refocused his dental career by buying a general dental practice in Winnipeg.

In 2001, he moved with his family to Calgary to continue his general practice in dentistry at Tower Smiles. Currently, Doug is licensed to practise dentistry under Alberta Dental Association and College and in New Zealand under the Dental Council of New Zealand. In addition, he is a member of the Canadian Dental Association and the Calgary and District Dental Society.

Doug is married, with 3 children and 3 grandchildren. In his spare time, he is involved in various art pursuits, jewelry making, wood working and gardening. Additionally, he is also co-owner of an ethically sourced, small batch custom design clothing and housewares company called Project 2801.
Dr Tyson Merrill

Specialist

Dr. Tyson Merrill is a board-certified prosthodontist and general dentist joining the team at Orijin Dental. Born and raised in Calgary and with strong roots in southern Alberta, Dr. Merrill began his academic journey at Mount Royal University before completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He then returned to North America to complete a specialty residency in prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota, where he earned his board certification through the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Merrill brings a particular passion for complex restorative care, including full-mouth rehabilitation, dental implants, and esthetic treatments such as veneers and crowns. His specialty training means patients with advanced dental needs benefit from a higher level of precision and planning — whether addressing a single missing tooth or restoring an entire smile. He is committed to creating treatment plans that are tailored and thorough.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Merrill is a proud husband and father who enjoys water skiing, mountain biking, and working on cars. He is genuinely excited to bring his specialty expertise to the Orijin Dental team and serve patients across Calgary.
