Veneers as an Aesthetic Solution
Veneers are thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped material that are custom-made to match the desired shape and colour of your teeth by a dental laboratory.
At Orijin Dental, our dentists use veneers to create a more uniform smile for our patients. Your dentist bonds the veneer to the front of your natural tooth to change the symmetry, shape or colour of your smile.
This procedure requires little or no anesthesia and can be a good choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. Veneers are placed to mask discolourations, to brighten teeth and to improve the overall appearance of your smile. Veneers can also be used to mask misaligned teeth, or gaps between teeth. They are placed over to your natural teeth and are bonded to your smile.
Dental Veneers in Calgary: The Procedure
Your dentist will first assess your smile to determine if veneers fit into your customized treatment plan. Afterwards, an impression of your smile will be made and sent to a lab to have your veneers created. To prepare the teeth for the veneers, tooth structure is removed to accommodate them. A very small portion of the tooth is removed, about a millimeter.
You will return to the dentist to have the veneers placed into your mouth.
Life with Veneers – What to Expect
For about a week or a little more, you will adjust to your new smile.
Since your teeth have changed in shape and size, it will take a little bit of time for you to get used to using your new teeth. Brush and floss daily.
After one or two weeks, your dentist will ask you to return for a follow-up appointment.
